This summer, 150 young people from across the
region will take over the Liverpool Empire for
two weeks, to put together a full scale musical
performance of Fame The Musical on the world
famous Empire stage, with the help of industry
professionals.
This yearly project, Liverpool Empire Stage Experience,
has enjoyed success and great reviews since its
inaugural production, Summer Holiday, in 2007.
Following on from that were 2008’s The Wiz (‘The Wiz
was the biz!’ Liverpool Echo) and 2009’s Bugsy Malone
(‘A slick production that explodes onto the stage with
all the aplomb of a professional show’ Liverpool Echo).
Now for 2010 Liverpool Empire Stage Experience
presents Fame The Musical!
This breathtaking show follows the lives of a group
of students attending New York’s High School for
the Performing Arts. Follow them on their journey
through school as they reach for the stars and the
bright lights of the entertainment industry.
The cast of young people from the local area (aged
between 11 and 21) will work with a professional
creative team including Director, Musical Director
and Choreographer, and gain a wealth of knowledge
about the performing arts industry in the process.
A fortnight of fun and hard work culminates in four performances of
Fame at the theatre from 5-7 August, when the youngsters will take part
either on stage or as part of the technical crew. Using a full set, along
with professional lighting, sound and effects, the production is of the same
high quality that you would expect from any major touring show.
Natalie Flynn, Head of Education and Community at
the Liverpool Empire said: “The programme aims to
develop the venues’ involvement in the Community
and offer young people from the local area, from all
backgrounds the chance to take part in a full-scale
musical production.
“Stage Experience is a fantastic
opportunity for local people to gain an
insight into the world of Musical Theatre
and the performing arts.”
