Parent Review Camp Beaumont

Posted by Administrator | 6 July 2010

My husband and I wanted to go away together for the
first time since having our kids, Jack and Mia. So we
decided to treat them to their own holiday to make
sure they didn’t miss out.

A friend had told me about Camp Beaumont – her son
was in Jack’s year at school and he’d really enjoyed
his trip. I didn’t just want to take her word for it so I
started looking at various summer camp websites and
ringing round for brochures.

I really liked the look of the Camp Beaumont site. They
offered loads of fun activities I thought the kids would
enjoy, and with 30 years experience I felt the children
would be in safe hands. It also cost much less than I
had expected. Even better, the price included three
healthy meals a day and all the equipment the kids
would need.

The children were excited by all of the activities they’d
get to try and 13-year-old Jack particularly liked
the sound of the parties in the evenings! Our
daughter, Mia, was a bit more hesitant – she’s nine
and had never been away without us before. Luckily
Camp Beaumont have thought of everything and
run an email buddy system. They put Mia in touch with
a girl called Caitlin so they could get to know each
other before camp. They’re still in touch now.

One of the other things we liked about Camp
Beaumont was the range of specialist holidays
they offer. Your child spends the morning on their
chosen activity before joining the rest of camp in
the afternoon. Mia chose horseriding and Jack was
tempted by PADI Junior Scuba Diver but decided to
go for a football course with FA-accredited coaches.

Once we’d booked, Camp Beaumont sent us a pack
with everything we needed – even stuff like
luggage tags.

When the day came, getting there couldn’t have
been easier. We took our kids to a local pick-up point
where Camp Beaumont reps collected them on the coach.
They got to meet other children straight away, giving
them a head start at making friends.

On the way back, we’d arranged to pick the kids
up from camp ourselves. Unfortunately our flight
was delayed but we kept the Camp updated and
they were happy to look after the children until we
could get there.

When we arrived, the kids didn’t want to come home
– they’d tried loads of new things like abseiling, quad
bikes, archery, zipwire and more and they couldn’t
stop talking about it for weeks. We noticed they were
both more confident and their social skills had really
come on. In fact, they still try to hog the computer
in the evenings so they can chat to their Camp
Beaumont friends!

We’ve already booked Jack and Mia on a week’s holiday
at Camp Beaumont this summer – they wouldn’t stop
asking until we promised they could go back!
