Mersey Pirate Muster- Sunday 18th July

Posted by Administrator | 6 July 2010

So why not step into our storybook world of
swashbuckling skulduggery, as the 2nd International
Mersey Pirate Muster blasts back into the Albert Dock
on Riverpool Day - Sunday July 18th.
Four fearsome pirate fleets from the four points of the
compass will bear down on Liverpool’s waterfront.

This FREE family fun day,
opens at 11 am. With songs,
shanties and music for all
ages, sword fighting and
musket displays, games,
ghosts, and gunpowder, this
is the Albert Dock as you’ve
never seen before!

How many pirates can you fit into Dock? The answer
is - an arrgghhful lot, and on Sunday July 18th you and
your family can be a part of Merseyside’s first attempt
at breaking the Guinness World Record for Most
Gathered Pirates in One Place. The current record, held
by Brixham Pirate Festival is for 1,744. We’re confident
that we have enough scurvy dogs to beat that!

To qualify for inclusion in this event, which is
supporting Liverpool Unites, you have to follow the
pirate dress code! Both adults and children are invited
come along dressed as pirates.

Sea dogs, barnacle-backs and Old Salts cross cutlasses
as their magnificent tall ships battle for Liverpool’s lost
treasure in the Siege of Canning Dock, with enough
cannons and muskets to wake Davy Jones himself.

Beat the pirates to the hidden prize by finding the
legendary Pieces of Eight. Follow the clues in the
Mysterious MacNamara’s Map, but keep one step
ahead of the Press Gang - Captain Hyde and Captain
Seeke are looking for new recruits, willing or not…

Meet the pirates, learn the ropes and listen to yarns as
old as the river. And make sure you watch out for old
Monty the Monster, who is never far from the treasure.

Pirate Battle commences at 3 pm.

Produced by BeSpoken Storytelling and Liverpool
Front House, in association with Lancashire Militia, Earl
of Loudon’s Regiment, and Mersey Heritage Trust.

Come join the Family Go Live team at the
fabulous free event.
